A taste of Italy on the terrace at The Queens Arms
As the sound of clinking glasses, laughter and violin rolls off the terrace into the surrounding countryside, guests at The Queens Arms’ Italian Night, being held in Corton Denham on Sunday 31 July, will be enjoying a menu that celebrates the essence of Italian food; simplicity, fresh ingredients and big bold flavours.
Beginning with a wine tasting experience, Sergio de Luca, director of buying for Italy at Enotria World Wine, will give a talk on wine production in Northern Italy, sharing knowledge gained through his family’s farming, his degree in winemaking and over 30 years’ experience in the industry. Sergio will then hold a tasting session featuring a wide range of hand-selected wines from Northern Italy, with this treat for the taste buds followed by a menu designed to complement the varied and fruity notes so often associated with this region.
Appetisers of bruschetta and antipasti will be followed by starters such as spinach and ricotta ravioli and pasta courses like squid and mussel spaghetti. Sautéed ribeye steak with gorgonzola and pistachio sauce will bring together classic Italian flavours for the main course, ending on sweets including tiramisu, which will all be served while the terrace is serenaded by a live violinist, bringing the flavours of Italy to this stunning setting in the Somerset countryside.
The Queens Arms’ Italian Night will be held in Corton Denham on Sunday 31 July from 6pm until 9pm. Tickets for the wine tasting experience and talk can be purchased in advance for £10 per person, which includes a £5 discount voucher for any wine purchased from the tasting session. Food can be purchased separately on the night.
