All joy, no fuss, pick up a picnic hamper and savour the great outdoors

Picnic

Whether it’s a romantic ramble for two, a trip to the seaside with friends or a birthday bash in the sun, The Queens Arms’ ready-made picnic hampers are the perfect way to embrace the British summertime this National Picnic Week and beyond. These hassle-free hampers come brimming with freshly prepared food and can be collected from The Queens Arms in Corton Denham near Sherborne on the day of the outing, giving picnickers even more time to savour the sunshine.

The Deluxe Hamper is a family feast-to-go, containing hearty classics like The Queens Arms’ trademark hand-raised pork pies, Scotch eggs, wild boar sausage rolls and a choice of sandwiches, as well Frobishers juices, salad from the pub’s own kitchen garden and a selection of cakes for those greedy little piggies. Those requiring a lighter load to take on a hike or the back of a bike, can go for the Standard Hamper, a traditional selection of British lunchtime treats, including sandwiches, pork pies, crisps, cakes and a soft drink.

Whether staying in one of the pub’s individually decorated rooms or on a day trip to soak up the rolling Dorset and Somerset countryside, The Queens Arms’ new walking guide can lead the way to some of the local area’s most stunning spots, while also helping to work off lunch with routes ranging from 5.5 miles to 16 miles and offering a variety of terrains. Diners going further afield can simply pop the hamper in the boot and head off to one of the great British summer spectacles, such as Ascot and Wimbledon, or travel a few miles south to any of the jaw-dropping seaside locations along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast.

Standard Hampers from The Queens Arms cost £12.50 per person, for a minimum of two people, and Deluxe Hampers cost £20 per person, for a minimum of four people. Orders must be placed 48 hours before the required collection time and wine can also be purchased at wholesale prices.

National Picnic Week runs from 11 – 19 June and encourages Britain to share tips, activity ideas and the very best locations to set a hamper down over the summer.
