Eggucation for the next generation at Field to Food Learning Day

On Wednesday 13 April, Dan and Briony Wood (above right) from Blackacre Farm Eggs, attended the Royal Bath & West of England Society’s Field to Food Learning Day at the Bath and West Showground, where they spoke to 1,000 school children about their free-range egg business. Throughout the day the children got to meet some of Dan and Briony’s free-range hens, learn about the traditional farming methods that are employed on the farm in North Cheriton and take a closer look at Blackacre’s entire Free Collection, including eggs from hens, ducks, quails and geese.

Briony Wood, director at Blackacre Farm Eggs, explains;

“The Field to Food Learning Day is a fantastic initiative to educate the next generation on where their food comes from and to give them an appreciation for the hard work that goes into producing what ends up on their plate. As farmers and parents, this is something that Dan and I feel very strongly about, and we firmly believe that more interaction between producers and consumers will help sustain the smaller, independent farmers who are keeping traditional farming methods alive.”
