New Dawn Traders launches nationwide delivery, shipping fine produce that puts people and planet first

NDT nationwide

Fresh from its latest wind-powered voyage aboard the Gallant, New Dawn Traders is making its incredible cargo of fine food and drink available for nationwide delivery for the first time. Reaching out to those who live beyond the port towns where orders would usually be collected from the ship itself, the experimental fair-trade collective can now deliver its sustainably sourced haul of olive oil, chocolate, coffee, honey and more to conscious consumers and Christmas shoppers anywhere the UK.

Connecting small producers from across the seas direct to British consumers through pollution-free shipping, this common sense supply chain gives people the chance to enjoy exceptional food and drink from around the world with a minimal impact on the environment. With plenty of wild ideas and delicacies on board, New Dawn Traders’ cargo is packed full of unique Christmas gift ideas for those looking to put people and planet ahead of convenience and commoditisation.

Cutting the supply chain down to its core, farmers and producers load their cargo directly onto the ship, before it heads straight to the consumer, powered by wind alone. Only ever importing items that cannot be produced in the UK, New Dawn Traders is calling on people to re-think their shopping habits and buy their imported foods in larger quantities, for longer periods. Dramatically reducing storage, distribution and packaging needs, while saving money, this simple step can help bring global consumption back to a human scale.

Sat alongside crates of wine, olives, panela, mezcal, fleur de sel, rice, nuts and pulses, a remarkable chocolate bar encapsulates so much of the New Dawn Traders story. The culmination of an epic bean-to-bar collaboration, New Dawn Chocolate began with the sourcing of Trinitario beans through the Alliance of Rural Communities in Trinidad & Tobago, before they sailed over 6,000 nautical miles to be transformed into chocolate by Chocolarder in Falmouth, Cornwall. Fruity, caramelly and zesty, the 70% dark chocolate is full of character, just like the international friendship-chain that it represents.

New Dawn Traders’ latest voyage was aboard the Gallant, part of the Blue Schooner Company’s fleet, a former fishing lugger on the North Sea, built in 1916. Departing Porto, Portugal on Friday 7 August, the Gallant visited Bristol, Penzance, Newhaven, Ramsgate, London and Great Yarmouth.

New Dawn Chocolate and all other New Dawn Traders cargo can be pre-ordered at www.newdawntraders.com from Friday 18 September.
