BANK Bristol named in UK’s 50 best Sunday Roasts by The Good Food Guide
Totterdown-based neighbourhood restaurant, BANK has been selected by The Good Food Guide as one of the 50 best places for a Sunday roast in Britain this year. BANK is the only restaurant in Bristol to make the cut in The Good Food Guide’s inaugural Best Sunday Roast competition, which saw 20,000 public nominations and four weeks of anonymous inspections, before dining spots across the UK were deemed worthy of this accolade.
The announcement comes as Sunday roast season gets into full swing at BANK, with Sunday hours recently extended due to popular demand. Reflecting head chef and co-owner, Jack Briggs-Horan’s contemporary fire cooking ethos, the Sunday menu hits all the sweet spots of the traditional roast dinner, while bringing the best of the grill into play across each of the dishes and sides.
Using meat sourced from a 30-mile radius, BANK’s Sunday Roasts are also now accompanied by produce harvested from the restaurant’s own veg plot. Joints, vegetables and trimmings all go over the flames, with options including Middle White Pork Belly, Black Garlic & Miso; Smoked Celeriac & Wild Garlic Crumb; Salt Marsh Lamb Shoulder & Green Harissa; and Smoked Short Rib & Wasabi Mustard, with Sharing Roasts featuring a Whole Butter Roasted Chicken with Crispy Sage & Shallot; and a 20oz Hereford Cross Sirloin with Braised Beef Shin & Shallot.
The menu is completed by a selection of Snacks and Desserts for those longer, lazy lunches. Little roasts are available for children, and for bigger people, the Sunday aperitif list includes a BANK Boulevardier and a Jalapeno Aquavit Bloody Mary. Following the extension of BANK’s Sunday hours, roasts are now served from 12pm - 7pm, reducing waitlists for a table.
Dan O’Regan, owner and founder of BANK, commented:
“We’re really blown away by this one. We know our Sunday Roasts are always super popular, but it’s a big deal for us to be named in the Top 50 across the whole of Britain by an organisation as respected as The Good Food Guide. For most of the week, our fire cooking menu is eclectic and full of surprises, but when it comes to Sunday you need to respect what people want and expect from their roast. It's a special event for families and friends, especially in the depths of winter. We feel privileged to be part of that, and honoured that so many of our diners took the time to nominate us for this special award.”
This latest accolade for BANK follows the restaurant being named in the Top 10 of the UK’s best Sunday Roasts by @RateGoodRoasts earlier this year, as well as the UK's Top 100 Restaurants for 2024 by SquareMeal.
BANK’s Sunday roast menu is available every Sunday from 12pm - 7pm. With extended hours from autumn onwards, BANK is also open from Tuesday to Thursday 6pm - 10pm, and Friday & Saturday from 12pm to 10pm. Diners can book via www.bankbristol.com.
