Robun adds Reiki and Kintsugi events to reBalance festival programme
Bath-based Japanese restaurant, Robun has announced that it will be hosting two wellbeing events during the city’s upcoming reBalance festival, with ‘An introduction to Traditional Usui Reiki’ taking place on Thursday 16 February and a ‘Kintsugi Workshop’ following on Monday 20 February.
With Japanese cuisine so widely celebrated for its healthy balance, Robun has chosen to present these more practical elements of Japanese culture during reBalance 2023, both of which are firmly rooted in health and wellbeing. Each event will see a guest tutor coming to Robun’s Kanagaki Suite, adding to the festival’s packed programme of feelgood sessions.
During ‘An introduction to Traditional Usui Reiki’, Bath’s own Heidi Rearden will deliver a talk on the ancient art of reiki, discussing its benefits, origins, levels and top tips on using reiki in day-to-day life. Attendees will also be provided with a reiki infused crystal and a voucher for a discounted reiki healing session.
For something more hands-on, the ‘Kintsugi Workshop’ will give attendees the chance to try out the practical and symbolic art of embracing imperfections through the repair of china and earthenware, using a golden resin glue. These visible repairs are seen as part of the history of an object, with the cracks symbolising fragility, strength and beauty. The workshop will be led by Kintsugi expert, Claire Hemsley, and all materials will be provided, including broken ceramics.
Food and drink will be available to order during both events, offering guests an opportunity to sample Robun’s menu of yakiniku, sushi and sashimi, paired with sake, Japanese whisky and cocktails.
