Blackacre Farm Eggs plays starring role in Channel 4’s The Food Chain

Blackacre

Somerset’s own Blackacre Farm Eggs will hit prime time television screens across the UK on Monday 11 April, as part of a new series called The Food Chain, which airs on Channel 4 at 8:30pm. Tracking the journey of Britain’s best-loved foods, the programme will explore the inner workings of Blackacre Farm Eggs and the distribution web that surrounds it.

With scenes of Blackacre’s free-range hens rambling across luscious pastures, egg collection from its single tier sheds and packing on the farm, this episode will give viewers an insight into how owners Dan and Briony Wood continue to employ traditional farming methods to produce their award-winning free-range eggs. As the name suggests, the programme will also follow Blackacre’s eggs around the country, showing some of the more unexpected places that they eventually end up.

Dan Wood, managing director of Blackacre Farm Eggs, explains;

“It was great fun being part of the programme and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our traditional farming methods alongside the complex national distribution network that it works in harmony with. To think that our free-range eggs are gracing kitchens all over the UK, from restaurants, hotels and cafes to artisan producers and family homes, makes us incredibly proud of our Rambling Free girls here in Somerset.”

Blackacre Farm’s eggs are available exclusively from independent retailers, including delis, farm shops, butchers and grocery stores across the UK.
